1985, the Blandin Community Leadership Program has served over 4,000

and community change.
The Framework
This internationally recognized program is centered on three core
competencies:

action;
- Building social capital for cooperation and resource sharing;
and

This program uses highly experiential learning techniques in which
participants work on "real life" situations in their community.
The skills include:
- Communications that foster understanding, efficiency and cooperation;
- Conflict Management;
- Networking that brings together diverse people, ideas and solutions;
- Stakeholders Analysis; and
- Individual Leadership Development Planning.
The Audience
The program is designed for community teams that reflect the diversity
of their community –established and emerging leaders from
many walks of life – educators, business owners, elected officials,
executives, health care professionals, clergy and retirees. Recruitment
efforts focus on individuals who are:
- Actively involved in community life: ability to make a difference
- Willing to engage others in ongoing efforts to develop and
sustain healthy community

- Committed to working collaboratively to promote community economic
viability and assure that the benefits are widely shared.
Retreat and Workshops
The Blandin Community Leadership Program is a residential retreat
that involves 8 days of training: a 5 day residential retreat, a
2 day residential workshop and a 1 day workshop spread out over
the course of a year.
Program Costs
The cost for program participants is their commitment of time and
travel to the site. The Foundation underwrites the cost of the program
including training materials – a substantial Foundation commitment
of nearly $3,800 per participant opportunity to a program that year-in and year-out
demonstrates impact.
Ongoing Community Involvement
The Blandin Foundation makes a substantial investment of both time
and money. In return participants are committed to ongoing involvement
in developing and sustaining the health of their community. The
Foundation provides a number of advanced leadership opportunities
for alumni and communities who have participated in the Blandin
Community Leadership Program.
Communities served are eligible to participate in the following
Foundation leadership program:
Partners-in-Leadership.
